Lizzo is not shy, that’s a fact. Whether it be about her body, her political views, or even ripping off a nipple cover (yes, really), she’s shared it on social. Which is why it’s a little surprising that until a recent interview with The New York Times, she hadn’t shared much about her beauty routine.
You would never guess by looking at her, but it turns out the 32-year-old singer actually had to go through “skin rehab,” as she described in NYT because her skin started freaking out after not washing her makeup off before bed one too many times. That interview was in the fall of 2019 and judging by her most recent images from the Grammys, it looks like she got all of her skin troubles worked out.
Here’s exactly what her strict skincare regimen entails now including products she uses at home as well as the ones her makeup artist swears by to get her glowing before a big red carpet moment. It’s probably safe to assume she’s no longer going to bed with her makeup on, either.
She wakes her skin up with spring water.
But not anything fancy—just good old H2O. “Water is really important for face and hair. I go to the bathroom and, believe or not, hit myself with some Evian spray to the face,” she told the NYT.
She dermaplanes her face before the red carpet.
Lizzo’s makeup artist, Alexx Mayo, shared that he used the Dermaflash Luxe on the singer before the 2021 Grammys. In a post on his Instagram he shared that “it’s best way to get rid of any dead skin cells and peach fuzz for the smoothest foundation application.”
She’s a believer in Sunday Riley skincare.
Lizzo shared with NYT that she went to Mayo with her skin dilemma and said “I really have to get serious about my skincare,” and he recommended the Sunday Riley skincare line. Which products in particular? All of them! “I have the whole Sunday Riley system now. I don’t mix systems,” she told NYT. “I would mix if I felt like it, but if it works for me, I don’t mess with it.”
But, she uses Charlotte Tilbury for red carpet prep.
For the 2021 Grammys, Mayo shared that he used a slew of Charlotte Tilbury skincare products to prep the singer’s skin. The lineup included the Instant Magic Facial Dry Sheet Mask, Charlotte’s Magic Serum Crystal Elixir, Magic Eye Rescue Cream, Magic Cream Moisturizer, and Charlotte’s Magic Lip Oil Crystal Elixir.

She uses a face oil instead of highlighter.
She used to use a highlighter on her days off but now she says she doesn’t need to because “I’ve been using the Glow oil, and I think that works better,” she told NYT.
