Trend: Dad Scents
To celebrate Dad, you can't go past a fabulous fragrance. Illusione For Him is woody and citrusy, with a twist of bitter orange. Riflesso Blue Vibe is warm, with notes of hazelnut, amber and tobacco. Red Dragon combines cardamom, tea and vetiver for a walk on the wild side.

This week I try
… a rose-based facial
The lowdown I am at Sydney's Langham hotel to test drive its spa's latest Babor Grand Cru Facial. The treatment begins with therapist Anna cleansing my skin, then applying a rose toner. Next she applies a mask before removing it, first with a warm towel, then a cool one. The next stage is to paint on an enzymatic peel to exfoliate my skin. This is followed by a deeply soothing massage of my neck, décolletage and shoulders using an extract of damask rose.
Next is the cooling anti-wrinkle fleece mask, with extracts of damask rose, hyaluronic acid and argan oil. The final two steps centre around white-rose and black-rose ampoules, which are applied to my face to help protect my skin from free radicals.

Pain factor None. It's bliss!
Downtime Ninety minutes.
Results My face feels soft and smooth with no redness and I manage to leave without applying any make-up. Okay, it is after dark. But still …
Where to get it Sydney and Melbourne: The Langham, langhamhotels.com. Cost: $369. At home Try Babor Grand Cru ampoules (babor.com.au, $146 for seven). Apply one nightly following the treatment for best results.

I love anything from the treasure trove in Florence that is Santa Maria Novella – and this Notte Scented Candle (agencedeparfum.com.au, $125) is another must-have delight.
It has top notes of jasmine and rose, middle notes of tuberose, black pepper and cinnamon bark, and a base of amber, sandalwood, vetiver and vanilla.
How do I protect my fine hair against frizz?
The key to protecting fine hair from cuticle damage is to apply a protective product before using any heat-styling tool such as a blow-dryer, tongs or flat irons. One of our favourites is Kérastase L'Incroyable Blowdry Heat Lotion (adorebeauty.com.au, $42).
