Rapper A$AP Ferg has released the official music video for his latest single, “Move Ya Hips,” created in collaboration with Nicki Minaj and MadeinTYO.
Directed by Isaac Rentz, the “short film” seems like a segment taken out of a “Black Mirror” episode, with none of the original artists being featured in the video.
In the dark video, the protagonist of the film orders a sex-bot from an online service from the comfort of his couch using an app on his phone. In seconds, the bot appears to have arrived on his doorstep, after which he has a blast adjusting its settings and commands it using a controller.
All goes according to plan until the robot encounters a system error, at which point it turns against its master, so to speak, and chases the man around the house, finally killing him with an array of shots fired from its bosom.
Although the video has received more than half a million views since its release on Wednesday, August 12, the likes-to-dislike ratio is disproportionately skewed, as fans have taken to the comments section to complain about the absence of Nicki Minaj in the video.
Additionally, they also appear to be upset over the fact that Ferg’s team refused to submit the website sales of the new song to Billboard, as a result of which, some believe, it remains at No. 19 on the Billboard Hot 100, and did not debut at no. 1 as many fans had hoped.
