Coleen Nolan cant be around drunk people as it brings back memories of violent dad

Coleen Nolan has admitted being around drunk people gives her bad memories from her childhood as she opens up about her violent dad.

The 56 year old has discussed her distaste for alcohol in her new book Live. Laugh. Love.: Lessons I've Learned and spoken more candidly in an interview with OK!.

Loose Women panellist Coleen told us: "I don't mind people drinking or getting tipsy, but as soon as they get really drunk I can't be around them and that's from my childhood. I get that same feeling.

"People turn into idiots. I can't be with people who get out of control."

She admits that this was a problem that arose in her second marriage to Ray Fensome.

"That was an issue with Ray," Coleen continued. "He never drank at home but if we went out he was a binge drinker.

"He never got violent or argumentative but he just turned into a d**k and it's so unattractive."

But despite her sobriety, Coleen insists she still has a good time when she's out with her friends.

She said: "I'm the one who's dancing all night! We always have a big new years eve party at home – although obviously last year we didn't – and they go on all night and everyone gets very drunk.

"But I'll be the one still up at 7am cleaning up and then I don't have a hangover and I feel great!"

Coleen recently opened up on her love life, saying she is having the best sex of her life after meeting her mystery beau on Tinder.

She told the Mirror: "I have met someone wonderful and I am really happy – he makes me feel like I am 20 again.

"It has only been three-and-a-half months so it's really early but we are dating and the kids have all met him and love him. He's kind, caring, funny, romantic and the sex is great.

"He's awoken something in me. He's awoken a tiger, which I didn’t know was there," Coleen continued.

"The best thing is that for the first time in my life I know for sure I am with a man because I want to be and not because I feel I need to be."

Live. Laugh. Love.: Lessons I’ve Learned by Coleen Nolan (£16.99, Little, Brown Book Group) is out on October 28.
