Emmerdales Joe Tate star Ned Porteous looks unrecognisable with huge beard after quitting soap

Emmerdale star Ned Porteous looked virtually unrecognisable compared to his days as the character Joe Tate on the popular ITV soap.

The 27 year old, who took on the role of Joe from 2017 to 2018, has swapped out his styled quiff for a grown fuzzy beard in new snaps from his Californian getaway.

Ned has been on holiday on the west coast of the United States with his partner Sophia, and they have visited places such as Napa Valley and Yosemite National Park.

Sharing a snap in front of San Francisco's iconic Golden Gate bridge, the full extent of Ned's transformation was evident as he smiled at the camera as Sophia puckered her lips next to him.

Comments on his beard came pouring in thick and fast, with his former co-star Michael Parr humouring: "Your beard is fake."

Someone else commented: "Loving the beard, Ned" while a third added: "Boys got beardy."

Ned has been documenting his beard transformation on social media.

Last month, he shared an up-close shirtless selfie that saw him sporting a subtle beard as he rested his chin in his hands.

Meanwhile, Ned certainly looked like he was having a great time in California with his other half Sophia.

The pair began their Stateside adventure in the city of San Bernardino, before making their way up to see the stunning sights of Yosemite.

Ned and Sophia enjoyed a pitstop in San Fransisco, where they shared plenty of loved-up selfies together.

Television star Ned and his girlfriend then made their way to the wine-tasting region of Napa Valley, where they shared snaps of themselves enjoying a glass of wine.

While Ned appears to be having a great time, some fans are convinced that his recent spate of US snaps means Joe will never return to the soap.

One fan commented: "No hope of you coming to liven Emmerdale back up any time soon then! Just not the same without you and Andrew Scarborough!"

Another wrote: "When are you due back in Emmerdale Ned or is that still under wraps?"

While Joe is best known for Emmerdale, he delighted fans by appearing in the popular and racy Netflix drama, Bridgerton.

Actor Ned played Lord Wetherby in season one of Bridgerton, and he was the lover of Sir Henry Granville.

While season one focused on Daphne Bridgerton's (Phoebe Dynevor) debut on London's marriage market, the second centred on her brother Anthony Bridgerton (played by Jonathan Bailey) and his new love interest Kate Sharma, played by Simone Ashley.
