‘It’s £25 to heat my house for a day – but my air fryers been a life saver, says Amy Childs

Amid the ongoing cost of living crisis and the cold winter months, Amy Childs has revealed that she’s having to spend as much as £25 a day to warm her home.

This time last year it was revealed that the cost of living had risen at the fastest pace in 30 years – and 12 months on, it doesn’t look to be changing any time soon.

Households across the UK have been affected by the rise in inflation, TOWIE star Amy included.

“It’s so cold at the moment, and I’m honestly looking at about £25 a day to heat up the house,” she wrote in her weekly OK! column.

“The other day it was particularly cold and I had to bump it up, and it went up to £30! It’s so expensive, but they say you have to if you have kids.”

Amy went on: “It’s a lot of money, but on days like today I don’t have it on full blast, I just make sure I have a jumper on and thicker socks. I can’t have it on all the time because it’s extortionate. But, it’s nearly the end of January and we’re getting close to the summer. I love the summer.”

The mum-of-two, who is currently expecting twins, also discussed her air fryer which she often uses instead of her oven.

According to Ideal Home, running an oven for two hours costs around 54p, while running an air fryer every day for 30 minutes costs as little as £1.84 a week.

“Air fryers are the way forward,” Amy gushed. “I can’t wait for the twins to start eating solid foods when they’re old enough because I’ll just be living off cooking in the air fryer.

"Everyone always asks me what air fryer I have, and I have the Ninja. Apparently that’s the best one, but I wouldn’t really know. That’s just the one I was recommended."

She went on: "I cook all of Polly and Rich’s dinners in there. It cooks everything and it’s done in 5 or 6 minutes. I’ll cook mine and Bill’s chicken in there, he uses it for his fish, you can do hot salads in there, you can even cook an omelette in there.

“I really do recommend it! If you’ve got children, it makes your life so much easier. In terms of the energy crisis, it’s cheap to run too. I’ve not used my cooker for 2 weeks!”
