Former Strictly Come Dancing professional Janette Manrara, 37, has taken to Instagram to share that her exit from the favourite BBC dance show has only just “hit her”, after the first few celebrities were announced for the 19th series yesterday. The star, who is married to Strictly pro Aljaz Skorjanec, announced her departure from the dancefloor earlier this year, but revealed that she won’t be going far, as she’s set to join Rylan Clark-Neal as host of spin-off It Takes Two.

As news of the celebrity Strictly contestants is announced, Janette took to Instagram to congratulate the contenders taking to the dancefloor.

As Tom Fletcher, Robert Webb and AJ Odudu were confirmed on The One Show, the dance pro penned a heartfelt welcome to each of them on her stories.

However, after showing off an incredible make-up look, the star told her 441,000 fans how the reality of her departure from the show has just “hit her”.

She said: “What I was really going to say is that the first three celebs have been announced for the new series!

“It’s bittersweet because it kind of hit me today, like, oh gosh.”

Janette went on to say that despite her new role, she won’t feel part of the Strictly “gang” as she was in previous years.

She explained: “I am going to meet them because I’m going to meet them on It Takes Two, but I’m not going to be part of the whole gang in the same way.

“But I’m so excited for Tom and AJ and Robert and more to come soon.”

The American native branded her nearly decade-long stint on the BBC show as some of the “best” years of her life, before admitting that she feels “jealous” of the famous faces joining the programme.

Janette said: “Honestly, it was the best eight years of my life.

“There’s still going to be many more new memories, but seeing the celebs get announced, the first few coming out today.

“For those of you joining the team, joining the famous, I’m so jealous. Enjoy!” she added before signing off.

John Whaite, Tom Fletcher, Robert Webb and AJ Odudu have all so far been announced as contestants in this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing.

In June, Janette confirmed that she would be joining It Takes Two after Zoe Ball announced her exit from the Strictly spin-off in May.

She confirmed her new role while appearing on The One Show.

Addressing her new Strictly duties, she said: ” “It’s a dream come true to become part of the It Takes Two team!

“Although it’s impossible to fill in the shoes of a legend like Zoe Ball, I hope to make her and all of the Strictly fans proud.

“I will miss dancing on that iconic dance floor weekly, but forever grateful to continue being a part of the Strictly Come Dancing family!”

Executive producer of It Takes Two, Eve Winstanley, also expressed her excitement at her taking over.

She said alongside the announcement: “We are so excited that Janette will be Cha Cha Cha-ing her way into the It Takes Two family.

“Her love and passion for all things dance will bring something new and fresh to the show.”
