Martin Roberts, 57, admitted there have been some occasions where potential house buyers have raised his brows but with his years of knowledge about the property business under his belt, he remains confident he can always point them in the right direction. And with 18 years of presenting experience as well, he’s learned to keep his reactions professional.

During his latest Twitter Q&A session, one fan wondered how he responds to house buyers he has doubts about.

“Ever met someone doing the homes and think your a t*t,” the viewer quizzed.

“Even though you have to be polite.”

After a short while, Martin replied with an honest answer, admitting: “Sometimes people make questionable decisions, which I might respond to with a raised eyebrow.

“But I’ll try and guide people in the right direction if I can.”

Another keen viewer waded in on the discussion, pointing out that avid watchers of the show can tell his thoughts by his famous facial expressions.

Elsewhere, the property expert reassured another fan who questioned him on Tommy Walsh’s involvement in Homes Under The Hammer.

The DIY expert joined the BBC property programme earlier this year alongside fellow new recruit Jacqui Joseph.

Tommy is best known for his days on DIY television series Ground Force, but one fan wondered why he had been appointed on the popular BBC show, hosted by Martin, Martel Maxwell and Dion Dublin.

They asked: “How come Tommy is now involved on hammer?”

Martin replied: “It’s been all hands on deck during lockdown.

He added: “And who wouldn’t want a legend like Tommy as part of the show.”

Ahead of his debut on the show, Tommy, who has 60 years experience in the field, said of his new role, he said: “I’m looking forward to joining the Homes Under The Hammer team, and hope that my knowledge and experience will be a useful addition.

“I really enjoy the show and coincidentally the house I share with my family was purchased at auction and we all love it, so hopefully I can help both contributors and viewers with the choices they make too.”

After the broadcaster announced the pair would be joining the team last year, fans worried that Martin, who is the show’s longest-running presenter, would be stepping down.

But he reassured viewers he wouldn’t be leaving the show after 18-years at the helm.

“I see that HUTH is getting two new presenters,” one fan asked.

“That will take you to five presenters. How do you think it will work or are they putting you out to pasture? #AskMartinMonday.”

Confirming he’s remaining at his post, Martin replied: “Thank you for your support.

“No, I’m not out to pasture. A lot of it is down to the challenges of filming in the current climate.”

The viewer responded with a GIF that expressed relief than the telly favourite isn’t packing it all in.
