Rylan Clark-Neal has “got his spark back” thanks to his new Strictly: It Takes Two co-host Janette Manrara, according to new magazine's source.

The 32-year-old has had a difficult few months following his split from husband Dan Neal, 42, especially following the news last week that they would be filing for divorce.

But as his personal life suffers, his professional life is on the up as he returned to screens as the host of the Strictly spin-off show last week. And following Zoe Ball’s departure, Rylan has got a new shoulder to lean on in the form of 37-year-old professional dancer Janette.

A source close to Rylan told new: “Strictly has saved him – the old Rylan is coming back. Janette has been a real support. He hasn’t opened up at all to anyone but is really relaxed with Janette."

"They’ve got great chemistry and he’s got his spark back. Janette is very supportive and down to earth – she’s been a breath of fresh air. It’s great for him to have somebody to confide in and somebody to talk to. Work has helped him so much.”

The former X Factor contestant has been throwing himself into work in recent weeks, returning to his BBC Radio 2 show for the first time in four months.

“Radio is great but when he’s on TV he just springs into it and comes alive,” new magazine's source continued. “He’s been living with his mum, Linda. He and Dan did try to get back together but they just couldn’t make it work.

“He’s really taken it on the chin, Rylan has put his hands up and said he’s a lot to blame for it. He went into himself, which isn’t like him, and his mum was very worried. He wasn’t texting anybody back, he wasn’t even answering the closest of his friends.”

But new's source added that even the petrol crisis hitting the UK is prompting Rylan to get his sense of humour back.

“He’s been laughing again and cracking jokes about the petrol shortage, like the one he tweeted, saying, ‘After the year I’ve had, this is all I need.’ The sparkle’s coming back. He’s out of that dark place.”

Rylan announced he and Dan had separated in June, admitting he had made mistakes in their relationship.

He said: “Following reports about Dan and I spending time apart, I feel I have to speak out as the way it is being reported is unfair."

"I have made a number of mistakes which I deeply regret and have inevitably led to the breakdown of our marriage.”

It’s good to see you getting back to your old self, Rylan!
