Neil Jones shocked in background as Shirley Ballas scores Angela Rippon 6
Shirley Ballas has revealed the real reason why she has to dodge the catering provided for the Strictly Come Dancing cast and crew behind the scenes.
The 63-year-old explained that she has to avoid the food at Strictly because of how calorific it is and the fact that she’s going to be on-camera every weekend.
She told The Sun: “It’s always difficult when I’m on the run-up to anything like Strictly. I really have to watch what I’m eating.”
The dancer said she prefers to bring in her own food from home when she’s filming for the BBC show.
“I don’t do catering, I have seen the food at Strictly. They have lots of yummy cakes and sweets and biscuits and they have all sorts of fantastic food,” Shirley told the publication.

“But it definitely is calorie food, because obviously the dancers are dancing all day and of course, they’re young with fabulous bodies.”
The television personality is strict with her diet and has been eating the same meal on-set for the past six years.
“I get my lemon chicken from Marks & Spencer and Sainsbury’s. It’s been cooked.”
Shirley revealed the crew brings her salads and sometimes she might have sushi depending on the day.

Over the years, Shirley has received backlash from viewers over feedback she’s given the celebrity contestants.
Last year, the world champion dancer was the victim of online trolls, who accused her of favouring male dancers to the females.
Despite the backlash from some fans, Shirley confessed she believes she does a good job when giving feedback to the contestants.
