Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid, 50, has taken to Twitter to post a sweet farewell to a long-time colleague, after they announced their departure on the social media platform. TV director Matt Freestone announced that he is stepping down from his position on the ITV news show, resulting in an influx of farewells from his colleagues.
Fantastic people making fantastic telly!
After spotting the news, the ITV presenter of seven years didn’t waste any time in wishing her colleague the best.
“Good luck Matt,” she penned affectionately, alongside an applause emoji for her 826,800 followers to see.
The ITV employee broke the news of his intended departure from the show in a tweet praising the programme.
The TV director shared a snap of himself at work on the popular ITV show, tagging colleagues in the picture.
He wrote: “Some personal news: after four happy years at ITV Daytime, it’s time to fly the best and brave the freelance world!
“Thank you to all the crew, editorial and management teams for your support and encouragement during my time at ITV.
“Fantastic people making fantastic telly!”(sic) he added before ending the tweet.
Matt tagged presenters Kate Garraway, Ranvir Singh, Laura Tobin, Richard Armold, Ben Shephard, Charlotte Hawkins and Susanna in the farewell tweet, as well as his behind-the-scenes colleagues.
As well as Susanna wishing Matt luck, host Ben also wished his colleague well, writing: “Oh Matt! Congrats and good luck.
“It’s been brilliant working with you and I’ll look forward to seeing what happens next!”
His co-host Charlotte also responded, penning: “Good luck Matt!”
While GMB’s entertainment editor Richard added: “Love you, fella!”
Susanna’s sweet farewell comes just days after her ex-presenter Piers Morgan claimed that he and his co-star had a “blazing row” when the cameras were off.
The surprising news came as Prince William and Prince Harry attended the unveiling of their late mother’s statue at Kensington Palace last week.
Piers shared his thoughts about the pair’s reunion and went on to spill details about a fiery moment he and Susanna had behind-the-scenes.
He wrote: “Susanna Reid and I once presented a whole three-hour episode of Good Morning Britain together without exchanging a single civil word on or off camera after a blazing row.
“But the viewers barely noticed thanks to our fixed cheesy grins and cheery chats with guests.”
In his column for the Daily Mail, the former GMB host went on to hint that the brothers could have adopted a similar approach to working together.
“Yes, they smiled for the cameras and put on an apparently warm display of unity, and that was good to see,” he added.
“But, the two men have had decades to practice hiding their real feelings from the public, and trust me, it’s easy,” he wrote, before adding: “Appearances can be deceptive.”
