HAVE you ever thought about introducing a potty for your child as early as eight weeks old?
Parents have taken to TikTok to share how they are trying to get rid of nappies just two months after birth – and it has left some people baffled.
TikTok mum Jourdan Kehr, who posts under @jourdankehr said she has started her son on the potty at six weeks thanks to Elimination Communication.
She explained: “It’s not so much him communicating to us but us reading what his cues are.
“For some babies that could be grunting, crying a certain way, it could be certain belly movements or facial expressions they make.
“Also just picking up when they go to the bathroom and offering him the toilet at those times.
“Right now he is eight weeks old so I’m just doing it between every diaper change and after taking naps and after eating.
“I just offer him the toilet and I let him know that he can use it.”
She demonstrated how she holds him on the potty and makes “bathroom noises” to encourage him to use it.
Jourdan said that babies who are introduced to potties at an early age can be fully potty trained before the age of one.
Right now he is eight weeks old so I’m just doing it between every diaper change and after taking naps and after eating.
Other mums are also a fan of the method, such as Chelsea Salinas, who posts on TikTok as @chelseaalysse.
Her baby is three months old and she’s also trying to train her to not need nappies.
She showed how she simply removes the nappy and onesie when her baby has just woken up from a nap.
Then she takes her to the bathroom and holds her knees up to her chest and holds her over the sink.
Then she makes noises associated with the bathroom and waits for her to go.
Many people were completely divided on Elimination Communication.
One person wrote: “I wish I had learned about this earlier.”
However, another added: “This is insane… I feel like they don’t even know or understand.”
