Designers Nao Yagi and Hokuto Katsui drew inspiration from circus imagery for fall, playing with volume, print and color to dress a series of fashion “clowns” in eclectic, oversize shapes. The digital presentation was filmed on a simple, stark white set, but lights strung up to resemble the top of a tent were a subtle nod to the circus theme.
The look: Voluminous silhouettes, geometric and checked patterns, bright colors contrasting with neutrals, and draped gathers were reminiscent of old-school clown suits, but modern styling and textures including lace and jacquard preventing the collection from veering toward costume territory.
Standout pieces: Wide-legged lace pants in black or white were worn with sneakers for a casual but stylish day-to-night look, and paired with balloon tops or tunics in the same fabric. A black-and-white circus-themed scarf print featuring clowns and rodeo riders graced maxidresses and easy, straight trousers, giving them a quirky, humorous twist.
