Target Just Quietly Dropped Its Latest Designer Collection

When Target released its spring 2021 designer dress collection with Christopher John Rogers, Rixo, and Alexis earlier this year, it set the bar sky-high for future collaborations. The moment the retailer announced its second high-end capsule of 2021, I was struck with the fear that the fall collection would go the way of many acclaimed musicians' sophomore albums — which is to say that it would flop. But when all 183 pieces from its autumnal designer line were recently unveiled, I was pleasantly surprised by what I found.

Now, the collection that defied my expectations is officially available for purchase.

Target's Fall Designer Collection taps the talents of Nili Lotan, Sandy Liang, Rachel Comey, and Victor Glemaud, all of whom are as beloved by the fashion industry as they are by your favorite celebrities. Each designer created a unique selection of clothes and accessories for the line, and like its springtime predecessor, everything is available in sizes XXS to 4X. Prices start at $15 for Comey's colorblock statement earrings and Liang's Blair Waldorf-style fluffy headbands. If you think that's good, this next fun fact will do you in: More than 130 pieces — well over half the collection — cost less than $50 each.

A clothing line this affordable is made to be snapped up fast, which means it's crunch time. To aid in your decision-making process, we rounded up some of the best under-$50 styles from the four featured designers.

Nili Lotan

Over the past year, Nili Lotan's elevated basics have been worn by Jennifer Garner, Dakota Johnson, and Olivia Wilde, to name a few. The New York designer honed her luxe-yet-wearable aesthetic in her pieces for Target, and the resulting slip dresses, button-downs, and cable knit sweaters are laid-back enough to blend seamlessly into any wardrobe. The capsule's earthy tones and prints feel fall-inspired, but the pieces are so versatile, you'll have no trouble wearing them through other seasons, too. It's all rounded out by a $20 canvas tote in a subtle black and gray tie-dye.

Sandy Liang

Sandy Liang is adored by the likes of Gigi Hadid and Hailey Bieber thanks to her whimsical reinterpretation of athleisure. Her work often combines a diverse range of influences, and her Target collaboration is no exception. Tops made from ruffled bandeaus over turtlenecks create a layered effect without the hassle, while these quilted joggers are bound to add complexity and texture to even the simplest look. A gingham midi skirt patches together three versions of the print for the ultimate cottagecore statement piece, and it would look incredible styled with the faux fur headband of your early-aughts dreams.

Rachel Comey

You've probably seen Rachel Comey's Americana-inspired designs on Dakota Johnson, Rachel Bilson, and just about every influencer under the sun. Her pieces for Target lean into some of the moment's biggest trends, whether in the form of a tie-back blouse, faux leather skirt, or chunky tortoise print jewelry. One of her best contributions to the collection is undoubtedly this pair of sweater-like palazzo pants, which look like they'd take anyone from a day on the couch to a vaxxed night out with the simple change of a shirt.

Victor Glemaud

When we spotted Meghan Markle in a stunning Victor Glemaud top last October, we knew his rise to mainstream fame was imminent. The Haitian-American designer made his name as a purveyor of comfy knits in bold colors and shapes, which is reflected in pieces like a striped mock turtleneck in shades of teal and lime green. His other designs for Target include a host of flared pants and boxy pullovers. And dare we add: Glemaud's capsule might include the only pair of sweatpants to ever be deemed office-appropriate.
