Aldi launches foot-long sushi roll for £2.49 – and it looks delicious

To mark the start of the Olympics ,which started on Friday, supermarket Aldi has launched a big surprise for its shoppers.

A big 30cm surprise that is.

The supermarket announced the launch of its brand-new Footlong Sushi roll, which retails for just £2.49.

The latest launch comes at a great time, now that the highly anticipated Tokyo Olympics have begun.

The gigantic sushi roll is a never-seen-before supermarket first, and can be found in all Aldi stores now.

The 30-centimetre Japanese inspired sushi roll packs a punch with two flavours rolled into one – how good is that?

The roll’s first half is filled with aromatic katsu chicken, topped with black sesame seeds and crispy onions.

The second half is packed full of delicate smoked salmon and rolled in mixed sesame seeds.

The bumper roll is perfect for sharing, but of course we understand a real sushi connoisseur might want to tuck into this as a solo treat.

What's more? Another thing sure to make lots of Aldi shoppers very happy, is when they realise they can get 12cm more of the same katsu kick as popular London restaurant Sushi Dog’s Katsu Roll (£7) for nearly a third of the price.

Sushi lovers can pair the flavoursome foot-long with Aldi’s Specially Selected Veg Nests & Dim Sum (£2.99) or the Specially Selected Gyoza & Fishcakes (£2.99), to make it into a finger-licking meal; both of these are also available to buy now in store.
