With skyrocketing energy bills and winter fast approaching, many households are desperate for ways to keep their families warm while not spending a fortune on heating.

It has seen Brits turn to alternate means to keep warm, with electric blankets and portable heaters flying off the shelves.

Many are using their central heating far less than in previous years and instead are searching for bargain products which can keep them cosy through the expensive winter months, reports Birmingham Live.

In time for autumn, recent shoppers in Asda have seen the return of the supermarket’s much-loved heated throw.

With a rating of at least 4.5 stars on Asda’s website, shoppers have left glowing reviews about their new purchase and its money-saving potential.

One customer wrote: “This was my second purchase as a gift, both were bought with the price of switching on heating at the forefront of my decision.

“My sister and grandson agree ‘it’s the best present ever’.

“Both have health issues and keeping warm helps and the central heating can be kept off and this throw uses a minimal amount of electricity, keeping costs down.”

“The throw is very, very soft with variable heat settings, and the bonus is that it can be washed!! My daughter purchased one for herself because she was so impressed,” they added.

Made by Silentnight and available for £40 from Asda or Amazon, Asda describes the throw as “super-soft”, which “provides extra cosiness, whilst the three heat settings allow you to choose a temperature that is just right for you”.

Heated throws are economical and typically only use around 3p of energy each hour, meaning it is far cheaper than sticking the central heating on.

Not only this, but the Silentnight throw features overheat protection for total peace of mind and comes with a three-year manufacturer’s guarantee.

“Bought this blanket for a present and it was so nice I’ve since been and bought myself one!” a recent customer posted to the item’s online listing.

They added: “The blanket is really soft and cosy and heats up very quickly. I’m hoping it will help with the huge energy price increases and I won’t need my heating on so often!”
