Epson WorkForce WF-7210: Quick Summary

Designed mainly for small businesses, the Epson WorkForce WF-7210 replaces the already excellent WorkForce WF-7110.

The printer offers a series of excellent mobile connectivity features, together with borderless printing up to 13 by 19 inches and duplex printing for both A4 and A3 paper.

Considering its fast printing capabilities and great print quality, the Epson WorkForce WF-7210 may not be the cheapest on the market, but it certainly is worth its price.

Epson WorkForce WF-7210: Design

With its 12 by 22.3 by 31.8 inches size, the Epson WorkForce WF-7210 is a big printer, weighing roughly 32.8 pounds.

The considerable size is justified, however, when considering that the WF-7210 offers two drawers capable of holding 250 sheets each, plus an additional override tray on the back for printing individual sheets like labels and premium photo paper.

The two front drawers can be also manually configured to accommodate different sheet dimensions, including envelopes.

As in most standard Epson printers, the WF-7210 also offers a straight sheet feed and a fold-out, extensible output tray.

All user operations and settings are controlled by a 2.2-inch monochrome LCD screen and various navigation buttons, which are relatively intuitive to get used to.

Epson WorkForce WF-7210: Features and connectivity

When it comes to connectivity, the Epson WorkForce WF-7210 is clearly designed for flawless integration with mobile devices.

In addition to traditional Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and USB connectivity for desktops and laptops, the WF-7210 also features Wi-Fi Direct, and near-field communication (NFC) to enable direct connection with mobile devices.

NFC connectivity, in particular, is a pleasure to use, allowing you to print photos or documents by simply touching your smartphone or tablet to a spot on the left-hand side of the printer.

A small downside in this section is that the WF-7210 cannot print from USB drives or memory cards.

Epson WorkForce WF-7210: Performance

As mentioned above, the WF-7210 is a bit of a beast, but size is justified by substantial printing capabilities here.

In fact, the printer's maximum monthly duty cycle is 20,000 pages, with a suggested monthly print volume of 1,300 pages.

Printing speed is also fast, comparable with the best devices in this category.

Monochrome printing can deliver at 17ppm (pages per minute), while colour printing performs at roughly half the speed.

In terms of print quality, thanks to its Epson’s PrecisionCore technology, the WF-7210 performs well when tackling different printing jobs.

Still, it is worth noting here that this printer is inherently an office printer.

Because of this, it shines the most when printing documents, with text showing well-shaped and nicely-spaced characters.

Still, with a wide variety of settings to tweak, the WF-7210 can deliver solid results even when printing photos, though not exactly as vibrant as devices specialising in photo printing.

Epson WorkForce WF-7210: Running costs

Like most printers in this category, running costs for the WF-7210 are relatively high.

A set of original ink cartridges will cost you £45, placing the cost per page at 3.3p.

You can also invest in XXL/XL cartridges and get that down to roughly 2p per page, but you'll be paying an initial £118, which is quite a bit of money for ink.

Still, according to Epson, these are retail prices, meaning you could save up quite a bit if you buy ink wholesale for your business.

Epson WorkForce WF-7210: the verdict

All in all, the Epson WorkForce WF-7210 is a great printer for small office environments.

It offers large-format colour printing, as well as two trays capable of holding a considerable amount of paper sheets.

Its printing quality is excellent for documents and good for photos, and its connectivity options make it a valuable asset if you often print from mobile devices.

Add in a free 3-year on-site warranty for extra peace of mind, and you have one of the best printers in this price range.

If you don't need scanning or faxing capabilities, or to print from USB drives, the Epson WorkForce WF-7210 could very well be the right printer for you.
