The showrunners are into the idea, several of the key actorsare on board, and Netflix seems to be open to entertaining the concept. AmySherman-Palladino even has a “Gilmore Clause” written into her contract withAmazon, leaving the door open for more content. When it will take shape isanyone’s guess, but Sherman-Palladino insists the format will be different thanGilmoreGirls: A Year in the Life.

Would Sookie St. James have a more prominent role in a secondreunion?

McCarthy’s character, Sookie, was such an essential part of the success of Gilmore Girls during its originalrun, that fans just assumed she’d play a massive role in the reunion specialthat aired on Netflix back in 2016. That wasn’t to be, though. McCarthy’s characteronly showed up in a single scene during the 4-part special.

The reason for McCarthy’s limited involvement is a bitconfusing. According to VanityFair, McCarthy claims that she wasn’t invited to take part in thereunion. Sherman-Palladino, the famed creator of the series, insisted that she’dhappily fit McCarthy in where she could. What apparently really happened waspretty complicated. McCarthy was initially approached about being a part of thereunion and was all for it, but eventually, her schedule filled up. When the productionwas ready to get off the ground, McCarthy no longer had the time to get involved.

The single scene that included McCarthy was fit into the veryend of the filming schedule, but it was far from enough for fans. McCarthy hasnever said if she’d like to be involved in a second reunion, but fans do hopeshe’d be more deeply embedded in a second reunion if it does happen. Right now,McCarthy’s schedule is pretty packed. She is serving as an executive produceron Little Big Shots and is rumored to be involved in the upcoming TheLittle Mermaid remake. She also has two forthcoming flicks that arecurrently in post-production.
