DEAR DEIDRE: I FEAR my uncle sexually abused me when I was a toddler – but I’m not sure.
I’m 27 and recently learned that my mum’s brother, who died many years ago, abused both my older sisters when they were children.

They kept this information from me because they didn’t want me to be upset.
They swear I wasn’t touched but my blood ran cold when they told me what had happened.
I don’t remember anything but have always found sex with my husband difficult.
Though he’s been patient, it has caused problems.
Not knowing is destroying me.
DEIDRE SAYS: Perhaps your mum and your sisters genuinely don’t think you were abused, or they are just trying to protect you.
Either way, you need to get some help dealing with this.
Try talking to them again and explain your suspicions and how you feel.
Also talk to your husband, as this is affecting your relationship with him.
He will want to help you.
Please contact the organisation Napac (napac.org.uk, 0808 801 0331) for adult survivors of sexual abuse.
