‘Last chance’: Martin Lewis warns Tesco Clubcard holders about ‘free boost’ for Christmas

The deadline for shoppers wanting to get an extra Clubcard boost is just around the corner. Martin Lewis warned shoppers about the looming deadline in the most recent episode of Martin lewis Money Show Live on ITV. 

The scheme, which allows customers to save up Clubcard points throughout the year, can be used on a big festive shop.

Shoppers can also “top up” their account where they will receive a six percent bonus from the supermarket for doing so.

This will give more cash to spend in the supermarket.

However, the deadline is looming, meaning customers must act quick if they want to get the extra six percent.

Martin Lewis, who regularly shares money saving hacks, warned Clubcard holders about the deadline.

Explaining the deadline on his show, The Martin Lewis Money Show Live, the expert said: “Do you do your Christmas shopping at Tesco?

“This is your last chance for a free boost.”

Martin explained that the deadline is Wednesday, which is tomorrow, October 20.

He added: “What you do is, you pay into it and it gives you vouchers to spend in store but it adds six percent on top.”

If customers put £200 in their account, they will receive £212 which is a little boost for shoppers.

Explaining how it works on the supermarket’s website, Tesco said: “Become a Clubcard Christmas Saver via the ‘vouchers scheme’ page on your online Clubcard account.

“Remember to use your Clubcard all year round. More points means more trimmings at Christmas.

“Top up your own account with your own money, and we’ll give you a bonus.

“Receive all your vouchers in your November statement, in time for your Christmas shop.”

This means from November, shoppers will be able to use the vouchers in store.

In other news, the supermarket giant opened its first checkout-free store in Central London today.

The new store trial, GetGo, offers customers the same products with a seamless shopping experience.

The rollout of the technology to Tesco Express High Holborn follows a successful trial at Tesco’s colleague store in Welwyn Garden City, which had been in place since 2019.

Kevin Tindall, Managing Director, Tesco Convenience, said: “This is a really exciting moment for Tesco as we launch GetGo with customers.

“We are constantly looking for ways to improve the shopping experience and our latest innovation offers a seamless checkout for customers on the go, helping them to save a bit more time.

“This is currently just a one-store trial but we’re looking forward to seeing how our customers respond.”

It works by using a combination of cameras and weight-sensors to determine what customers have picked up and charge them for products directly through the app when they leave the store.
