Let’s be honest, choosing a hairstyle for 2020 has been a real struggle. With hairdressers closed, many women have been forced to do their own DIY cuts from home – and it seems that fringes have caused the most hassle of them all.
Many of us have attempted to cut in some brand new bangs, only for them to then end up looking flat or lopsided.
However, Maya Jama has just reminded us why the fringe is a must-have style as this week she unveiled some gorgeous new choppy bangs that we presume weren’t created with kitchen scissors.

The gorgeous presenter, who has almost two million followers on Instagram, wowed fans this week when she unveiled her new ‘do on her social media page.
Posting about JD’s Christmas campaign, the star looked stunning with her wispy bangs and glossy brunette locks.
“Brought back the fringe & it’s my 3rd year in the @jdofficial Christmas campaign,” Maya wrote in the caption.
The presenter’s new bangs attracted a lot of attention from her followers who flocked to the comment section to show their love.
“I love your hair like this,” one fan wrote.
“Loving the fringe,” another said.
Maya has sported many different hairstyles during her time in the spotlight, from voluminous brunette curls to bleach blonde waves, but this isn’t the first time the star has debuted a fringe.
'Pandemic fringes' and 'isolation bangs' are trending right now – here's everything you need to know
Earlier this year, before the initial lockdown, Maya’s hair stylist Patrick Wilson created a very similar look for the star.
Posting to his Instagram page, Patrick shared a snap of Maya’s pandemic-proof bangs, writing in his caption, “Before lockdown I cut @mayajama a fringe that won’t grow out!”
Instead of a blocky full fringe, Patrick cut Maya’s bangs into a choppy, wispy style that falls below the brow and around the eyes.
This clever trick gives the hair a new lease of life while making it easier to grow out into layers around the face.
With uncertainty about when salons will open and worries they might shut again after the Christmas period, opting for a lockdown-proof hairstyle like Maya might be the way forward.
