A woman was stunned when a big-hearted stranger paid £142 for her birthday meal before disappearing.
Shauna Wilson was celebrating her 21st with family in Manchester when a man next to her asked the table who was celebrating after spotting a balloon.
The man then left, before returning a short while later to say he had paid the entire bill and tipped the staff.
Shauna said he then left immediately after telling her what he had done – before she even had time to say thank you.
Now, Shauna, who was dining at the city's Cosmo restaurant, is hoping to track him down to thank him for the kind gesture, reports the Manchester Evening News .
She said the man had restored her faith in humanity.
Shauna, from south Manchester, said: "He just saw my balloon asked whose birthday it was.
"I told him and he didn’t say anything so I jokingly said ‘aren’t you going to wish me happy birthday?’ and we had a little joke.
"Then he walked away and ran back said 'I’ve paid for your whole bill, happy birthday have a good day' and ran away.
