  • OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER removed a club crest from United's training ground as soon as he took over from Jose Mourinho, as reported by The Athletic.

The Norwegian took it down as he was fearful that the squared tiles on it gave the badge a cracked and “broken” appearance.

Solskjaer moved it to a new location underneath a set of stairs at the Carrington training complex.

  • UNITED fans have come up with a new chant for Daniel James.

The 21-year-old has made an impressive start to life at Old Trafford following his summer switch from Swansea.

And supporters have come up with a new song – which is intended to be sung to the tune of Elton John's “Daniel”.

The lyrics read: “Daniel is playing wide on the wing.

“Some say he's the best Welshman that they've ever seen.

“Oh and, I can see Daniel passing you by.

    “God it looks like Daniel…

“But might be Giggs in disguise.”

  • OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER plans to welcome Mark Dempsey back into the fold at Manchester United after the coach was rushed to hospital during the summer tour of Australia and Asia, report the Evening Standard.

Dempsey flew home early ‘due to the intensity’ of United’s pre-season schedule and has not resumed his role in Solskjaer’s back room team since.

It is understood the 55-year-old has been back to the club’s Carrington training ground on at least two occasions, but that is not believed to have been in an official capacity.

Dempsey was considered an important part of Solskjaer’s coaching team, playing a pivotal role in day-to-day sessions alongside Kieran McKenna and Michael Carrick.

  • GARY NEVILLE is hopeful that David de Gea's new Man Utd contract will be the catalyst to helping the Spaniard rediscover his best form.

The 28-year-old has extended his time at Old Trafford by committing to the club until 2023.

Neville said: “He’s had a difficult time in the Premier League. When players are distracted it doesn’t help.

“He’s lost his place in the national team and made more mistakes for Manchester United than ever before.

“But now he’s signed you hope that settles him down and he starts performing.”

  • MANCHESTER UNITED sent a scout to watch Benfica defender Ruben Dias over the weekend, according to Record.

United have long been been linked with 22-year-old Dias, who is expected to make the switch to a bigger club in one of the upcoming transfer windows.

According to reports, United sent a representative to assess the development of the Portugal international in Benfica's fixture with Gil Vicente.
