I'VE been keeping my powder dry this week but finally I'm ready to unleash.
There are three I really like at Goodwood, so here's hoping for some success.
3.00 – Gordon Stakes
Leo De Fury – 10-1
Jessica Harrington doesn't bring horses to Goodwood on a whim, and the fact her three-year-old lines up here is a pointer in itself.
Unbeaten in two starts, the son of Australia produced a potent turn of foot in quite a decent little race at Navan last time, seeing out the mile and a quarter in fine style.
This step up in trip to a mile and a half will surely eke out more progress and he's one of the most unexposed in the contest.
Harrington brought Torcedor over for this festival last year, and her challenger this time can go one place better.
3.35 – Nassau Stakes
Maqsad – 7-1
Very smart filly looked a future superstar in the Pretty Polly back in May, routing her rivals in a display of utter brilliance.
Despite being sent off 4-1 for the Oaks after that, she was unable to mount a challenge and stopped as if shot.
However, now back in trip I expect the filly of the Pretty Polly to turn up – and if she does, she'll take some stopping.
William Haggas has brought her along slowly and with any luck his patient approach will pay off.
5.20 – Tatler Handicap
Alfie Solomons – 16-1
Smart sprinter has dropped to a good mark (only 2lb higher than when a close second in a handicap at this meeting last year).
Hasn't found life that easy this season so far but he was fourth in his group last time out at Newmarket and has now been dropped another pound.
First-time cheekpieces can help perk him up and the return to this track could well work its magic.
