Goodwood races: tips, racecards and previews for Saturday's card on the Sussex Downs as the Celebration Mile takes centre stage

THE Celebration Mile is one of the highlights of the Group calendar and this year's contest looks a tricky affair.

There are some cracking supporting races, too, and we've got you covered with a race-by-race preview and top tips.

Race 1 – 1.30 Ladbrokes Download The App EBF Fillies' Novice Auction Stakes

This is a weak race for the track and ODYSSEY GIRL may well be able to defy a penalty for her debut win at Newbury.

She found things happening a little too fast in the Super Sprint last time out and clearly didn't appreciate the drop back in trip.

Back over 6f she should be a lot happier and can see off Feelinlikeasomeone and Strawberry Hind.

SELECTION: Odyssey Girl

WATCH OUT FOR: Feelinlikeasomeone

Race 2 – 2.05 Ladbrokes Celebration Mile (Group 2)

The highlight of the card is a cracking contest, with three-year-olds dominating proceedings.

BEAT LE BON was a fine winner of the Golden Mile at Glorious Goodwood and is phenomenally progressive.

This C&D is clearly ideal for him and considering he's not yet reached the ceiling of his potential, he should have a big say at this higher level.

Duke Of Hazzard is a similarly progressive type, who took the Throughbred Stakes in fine style last time out. With only 1lb separating the principals, it's likely to be a close-run thing, but Beat Le Bon may be a little too strong.

Happy Power ran a big race last time out and has strong claims if he can repeat it, while Skardu has genuine Group 1 form but his finishing effort hasn't always convinced.

WATCH OUT FOR: Duke Of Hazzard

Race 3 – 2.40 Ladbrokes Prestige Stakes (Group 3)

This is a very tricky race to work out but DARK LADY holds strong claims on her fine efforts in Group company.

The form of her fourth in the Princess Margaret was boosted when the third one the Lowther on Thursday and she could have too much gas dropped in class.

Vividly did well to win at the Glorious meeting and has claims up in class, while Shadn deserves plenty of respect after landing a Listed contest last time out.

Boomer was an impressive winner at Newbury in July and deserves respect.

Race 4 – 3.15 Ladbrokes Bet £5 Get £20 Handicap

Another hot little contest that should see ZHUI FENG back in the winner's circle.

He's been campaigned mainly over a mile of late but given he's a front-runner, he may be able to dominate back over 7f at a track that he's won at in the past.

Gossiping's winning run came to an end in the Golden Mile last time out but that was a lot more competitive than this and he has claims if he's not reached yet his handicap ceiling.

Tabarrak drops in class here and also boasts solid claims.

WATCH OUT FOR: Gossiping

Race 5 – 3.50 Ladbrokes March Stakes (Group 3)

An interesting race that could see the very exciting PROMISSORY build on her electric win at Doncaster last time out.

The step up to 1m4f proved ideal so this extra couple of furlongs should bring about even more improvement.

Manuela De Vega drops a little in class and has obvious claims given she's also in receipt of weight, while Sir Ron Priestley deserves respect considering he's notched up such an impressive winning run.

SELECTION: Promissory

WATCH OUT FOR: Sir Ron Priestley

Race 6 – 4.25 Ladbrokes Handicap

This is the day for YOU'RE HIRED, who was such a fine second at Glorious Goodwood.

He can go one better here under ideal conditions for smart apprentice Scott McCullagh, whose 5lb claim is valuable.

Chance has chalked up a hat-trick of victories recently and has a big chance if coping with another step up in grade.

Dark Red will find this a little easier than his last couple of assignments and also has a shout.

SELECTION: You're Hired

Race 7 – 5.00 Ladbrokes Home Of The Odds Boost Handicap

The step up in trip is bound to suit PAST MASTER, whose form over 1m4f has been very good of late. He's always looked as though a hike in distance might help him and he's still lightly raced for his age.

Berrahri has decent form over this trip and should go well at a track he relishes, while Never Surrender bounced back to form last time and has solid claims.

SELECTION: Past Master
