Tottenham in transfer blow as Inter chief insists no one will be allowed to leave for January reunion with Antonio Conte

TOTTENHAM have been dealt a major transfer blow as Inter Milan insisted no players will leave to be reunited with Antonio Conte in January.

Conte, 52, led the Italians to the Serie A crown last season – their first title since 2009-10.

But he immediately walked out on the club in the summer.

And after returning to management by taking the Spurs job this week, plenty expected Conte to try and raid his old club to refresh the squad with his proven winners.

However, Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio, who sold Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea, told Sky Italy: “I’m not worried about Antonio Conte and our players.

"In January we won’t consider any possible exit.”

Conte has already admitted the squad needs an update – because it is trailing behind the standards of the state-of-the-art stadium and training ground.

In his first programme notes ahead of his debut match in the dug-out against Dutch outfit Vitesse in the Europa Conference League, he wrote: “I am proud and honoured.

“Tottenham is an important club in Europe and I want to repay the trust of the chairman, Daniel Levy, who strongly wanted me to join.

“I am arriving at a top club with a fantastic stadium and training ground and now it is about working with the squad to bring the team to the same level.”

As SunSport revealed, the Italian will be given a £150million war chest to stamp his mark on the Spurs squad and turn their fortunes around.

And with the January transfer window less than two months away, he will already have a list of players on his wishlist to give to chairman Levy.

But while Inter stars Nicolo Barella, Marcelo Brozovic and Stefan de Vrij were among those linked to Spurs, Conte may have to rethink his plans.

Elsewhere, Fiorentina ace Dusan Vlahovic and Franck Kessie at AC Milan remain transfer targets.

SunSport also reported the huge boost of Harry Kane's U-turn as he intends to stay and win trophies under Conte for Tottenham.
