Jean Johansson visited Costa Cálida in northern Spain in Monday’s repeat of A Place in the Sun. The Channel 4 presenter was hoping to find Currina her perfect holiday home and impress her friend Tracy who had come along for the search. However, the host made a huge mistake with one property and asked the friends to leave her alone while they took around the rest of the apartment.
Currina was looking for a two-bedroom property for herself and her partner Joe who was unable to accompany her on the trip.
She wanted to have access to a pool and be close to amenities with a budget of £65,000.
The property search got off to a good start but Currina noted the first two properties were too isolated.
“I worry a lot about how quiet this will be in off-season,” she remarked.

Jean admitted the properties in the surrounding area were predominantly holiday homes.
“I’m not a quiet girl,” Currina said and Jean added: “I can tell!”
However, the search took a disappointing turn with the next property which neither Currina nor Tracy liked.
“It’s not got much curb appeal,” Currina commented before Jean added: “You’re uncharacteristically quiet, [Tracy].”
The modern apartment appeared to offer Currina everything she wanted but Tracy was not impressed.
“Tracy’s gone quiet again,” Jean remarked and the guest replied: “No I really hate it, I don’t like it at all.”
“Hate’s a strong word,” the presenter quipped and Tracy explained: “I could not live, I couldn’t even stay for a short period, it’s soulless, sorry.”
Jean interjected: “No, that’s why you’re here. How do you feel about that [Currina]?”

“I like the open plan [style] and the design of it but I wouldn’t want to buy it,” she answered.
A stunned Jean asked: “You know that already just from standing here?”
“You get a feeling,” she replied before the presenter added: “I’ve got this totally wrong.
“I thought Currina was going to like this one, it’s right in the centre of town, this is what I had in mind for you.

“This puts me under pressure for where I go next with you. Will you go and look around the property for me?”
Tracy and Currina agreed to check out the rest of the space but didn’t change their minds.
Luckily, Jean’s property search improved and Currina revealed she was excited to bring her partner Joe to Spain to visit her final offering.
“I really liked it, it’s ideal for what I’m wanting,” she explained. “It’s light, airy, there’s a pool, outside space, ideal for mum and dad – it fitted most of the things I asked for.”
A Place in the Sun airs on Channel 4 on weekdays at 4pm.
