Amy Winehouses mum tells Lorraine that she never met the singers husband

Amy Winehouse's mum has revealed in an interview with Lorraine that she never met her daughter's husband.

Speaking to Lorraine, 61, on the ITV daytime talk show, Janis Winehouse said that she never got to meet Amy's husband Blake.

Talking about Amy Winehouse ahead of the broadcast of a documentary marking 10 years since the singer's death, Lorraine said: "She was a married woman and there was a lot made of that relationship, but you never actually met her husband Blake?

Janis Winehouse replied, "No, no, no. When she got married, she said, we did this, but we'll have another time."

However, Janis confirmed that she never got to meet Blake before the singer's tragic death.

Janis' husband Richard recalled receiving the phone call from the singer's cousin that Amy had sadly died, saying it was the "worst day of my life."

"I got the phone call to say she had gone. It was actually her cousin on the phone. I said, I was with her yesterday.

"Then I had to tell Janis. I didn’t know what to say. I said, she's gone.

"She just looked at me and thought I was talking about my mum. My mum died a month after Amy, my mum was seriously ill. I said no, your baby is gone."

Lorraine said, “I’m so sorry, it’s awful. It’s ten years ago, but it’s still with you, of course and you loved her very, very much.”

The award winning singer, known for songs such as 'Rehab', 'Back to black' and 'Love is a losing game', sadly died on July 23 2011.

Janis had seen Amy the day before and revealed the emotional last conversation that she shared with her daughter: “I remember exactly, I said to her, Amy I love you. She said, I love you to mummy.

"That’s how we were. I could express my love to her, always. She was very protective of me.”

Janis Winehouse and her husband Richard were appearing on Lorraine to discuss the documentary Remembering Amy Winehouse, which will be broadcast on July 23 2021.
