As WandaVision's Disney+ release date confirmed here's everything we know about Elizabeth Olsen's breakout series

NEXT year is already shaping up to be better than 2020 as Disney+ unveils the release date for Wandavision.

The streaming giant revealed the much anticipated series will drop on January 15, 2021.

The series is the first original TV show from the streaming service that is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It sees Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany reprise their roles as Scarlet Witch and Vision from the movies, but Scarlet struggles to keep a hold of her sanity.

Marvel fans know the character is able to alter the fabric of reality, with her paranoia creating some devastating events.

WandaVision will follow the Scarlet Witch, Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen), who uses her reality bending powers to bring back her beloved Vision (Paul Bettany).

It will see them both living in alternate realities of Earth after Vision was killed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War.

The sitcom-inspired series sees Wanda in an array of costumes from a 50s housewife (shown on screen in black and white) before the colour is dialled up and she rocks her red costume from the comics as well as a 60s hippie-style ensemble.

The show has previously been teased as the MCU's first sitcom, while the cast described it as "bonkers".

Actress Kathryn Hahn gave fans a hint at what they can expect from the series ahead of its 2021 release date.

"It is another surreal, awesome swing into another genre, but it's been so fun. I wish I could tell you a thing about it but I can't or else I'd just disappear from this Zoom box.

"It's gonna be fabulous, I can't say anything else!"

WandaVision is the second of the three main Marvel TV shows on Disney+, coming after The Falcon and The Winter Solider, and before Loki.

The Falcon and The Winter Solider stars Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan.
