BBC host Sam Quek was joined by boxing champion Nicola Adams in the studio on Sunday as they gave commentary on the women’s boxing final. Today marks the final day of the Tokyo Olympics 2020 and emotions were running high after Irish boxer Kellie Harrington and Team GB boxer Lauren Price both won gold medals in boxing. However, it appeared to get a bit too much for Olympic Breakfast presenter Sam when Kelly broke down in tears when she collected her medal.
As Kelly stood on the podium, Sam began: “What an emotional ceremony. If you’re watching at home, you’re probably like us, everyone has got a lump in their throat watching those emotional scenes.
“She joins Paul Donovan and Fintan McCarthy for the men’s double scores to take Ireland.
“Nicola, she follows in the footsteps of Katie Taylor who won gold in 2012.
“What next? You went pro after winning gold. At what point in your career did you choose to step down from the amateur game?”
