Jimmy Carr joined Rachel Riley and Susie Dent to front an all-new episode of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown on Friday evening. The Channel 4 comedy also welcomed back team captain Jon Richardson alongside stand-in captain Roisin Conaty and guests Rob Beckett and Kiri Pritchard-McLean while comedian Huge Davies joined Susie in Dictionary Corner. The hilarity didn’t take long to get underway as Roisin was left rather red-faced by her awkward introduction.
After welcoming Jon and Rob to the show, Jimmy turned his attention to Roisin and Kiri.
“Up against them this evening, it’s guest team captain Roisin Conaty,” Jimmy said as applause erupted in the studio.
Reacting to the applause, Roisin decided to make a sign of the horns gesture with her hands, before holding her head in embarrassment.
And it was quickly picked up on by fellow comedians Jimmy and Rob who began to copy the hand gesture.
“Sorry, Rosh,” Jimmy said holding his hands aloft. “Cowabunga, what?”
A mortified Roisin burst into laughter as she pleaded with Jimmy: “Can we edit that out?”
Roisin began to cry with laughter as she claimed the gesture was involuntary as she was “panicking”, again leaving the audience in stitches.
“What was that?!” Jimmy asked again as Roisin explained: “It was meant to be ironic.”
The After Life and Man Down star then became distracted as she said: “Is that a mouse?
“There was something on that curtain, but it’s not a mouse,” she continued before explaining further: “Then this happened.
“Can we edit that out?” Roisin asked again to the production crew off-camera but Jimmy’s teasing wasn’t done there.
Jimmy quipped: “If anything it embarrasses me I’m just gonna try distract attention… is that a mouse?”

Trying to move the conversation on, Jimmy continued with the script on his card.
“Roisin says if she wasn’t a comedian, she’d be a country singer.
“Well, if you did that Roisin, I’m sure comedy’s loss would be country music’s problem.”
The remark prompted laughter but Roisin spotted the chance to keep up the jokes and she sarcastically held the hand gesture aloft again.
And throughout the show, the likes of Jon, Rob, Jimmy and even Rachel got in on the act by making the sign.
The instalment was the first in the new series of Cats Does Countdown, which will continue next week.
Next Friday, Jimmy will welcome Jack Dee, Tom Allen and Judi Love to take part while Dr John Cooper Clarke joins Susie in Dictionary Corner.
8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown airs Fridays at 9pm on Channel 4.
