Coronation Street and Doctor Who star Millie Gibson sparks rumours she's back with ex after split last year | The Sun

CORONATION Street star Millie Gibson has sparked rumours she has rekindled her relationship with childhood sweetheart Drew Cunningham.

The pair dated for three years but split while she was starring as Kelly Neelan in the ITV soap.

Millie, who was recently announced as the new Doctor Who assistant, sparked speculation that she could potentially be back with Drew in recent snaps on Instagram.

She teased she is currently on a romantic getaway for two in Cumbria and shared romantic snaps.

The former soap favourite has been posting pictures and videos of cosy log fires and romantic champagne suppers for two – although Millie has been careful not to reveal who the mystery person accompanying her is.

Eagle eyed fans also noticed she has recently refollowed Drew – and also his family – on Instagram.

A look at actress Millie Gibson’s Coronation Street exit

Millie's reps did not reply to a request for comment.

It comes after her departure from Corrie with the young TV star saying she wanted to explore other options in her career.

Speaking on her exit, Millie said: ''I have no responsibilities. I don’t have kids, I don’t have a mortgage to pay or anything like that, I’m still grateful to be living at home.

''So, I thought I’m just going to see what else the world has. If it does, it does – that would be quite good, wouldn’t it?

Despite leaving Weatherfield behind, Millie Gibson will once again be back on our TV screens – and this time she will be starring in Doctor Who.

Millie will appear as Ruby Sunday – the 15th Doctor's companion, alongside co-star and Sex Education actor Ncuti Gatwa.

Ncuti Gatwa was named the new Doctor earlier this year.

The news of Gibson's new role was revealed live on Children In Need as the TV actress stepped out of the Tardis.

Speaking on her new role, Gibson said: ''It is a gift of a role, and a dream come true, and I will do everything to try and fill the boots the fellow companions have travelled in before me.

"What better way to do that than being by the fabulous Ncuti Gatwa's side, I just can't wait to get started."

The pair are set to sail the universe as they take on their new roles in 2023.
