Coronation Street fans praise Roy as he saves Abis life after Corey confesses to Sebs murder

Coronation Street fans have praised "hero" Roy Cropper as he saved Abi Franklin's life after she found herself trapped in a sinkhole.

Earlier this week, Abi (played by Sally Carman) and Corey Brent (Maximus Evans) finally came face-to-face in a furious showdown — only to fall through the sinkhole into the sewer below.

Only recently, Kelly Neelan was sentenced to life imprisonment after she was wrongly sent down for Seb Franklin's murder after killer Corey walked away from the high-stakes trial without a scratch against his name.

Vengeful Abi has been hell-bent on getting justice and during the double bill she prepared to shoot Corey after he finally confessed to murdering her son Seb.

He said: "Yeah, I did kill him. I didn't mean to… I just wanted to teach him and Nina a lesson. I didn't think he'd end up dying… it was an accident."

However, after Nina Lucas told Roy about Abi's plans, he managed to find the duo as he pleaded with Abi to put the gun down to which she eventually agreed to do.

Roy then helped Corey out of the sink hole while Abi broke down in tears as she refused to come out and it looked as though things could be taking a tragic turn for the character.

However, Roy eventually managed to persuade her to climb out the sinkhole as he helped her and led her to safety.

The episode ended with Corey showing up with a police officer as he accused Abi of attempted murder while she was led away for questioning.

Soap watchers were quick to praise Roy for saving Abi's life as they called the legendary a character a "hero".

One person said: "I swear the whole nation cheered when Roy finally managed to talk some sense into Abi – what a hero! #Corrie #CoronationStreet."

A different account put: "Roy Cropper, what a hero. We stan #Corrie."
