Coronation Street fans were overjoyed when Toyah Battersby (played by Georgia Taylor) and boyfriend Imran Habeeb (Charlie De Melo) got good news about being accepted as foster parents. After being told the crushing news she was unable to have children the couple looked for other ways to grow their family, but as things begin to progress with their application, Toyah might have to make a big decision about her sister Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson).
Leanne is going through absolutely hell at the moment, what with little Oliver being diagnosed with an incurable disease.
The storyline is set to reach it’s harrowing conclusion very soon, but until then poor Leanne and Steve McDonald (Simon Gregon) are trying to give their little boy the best life they possibly can.
But the pain of losing her child was only made worse by her sister’s news that another youngster would be joining the family very soon.
Not the best timing, but Toyah tried to protect her feelings before being given her blessing.
But could she be about to put some distance between herself and Leanne while their application gains momentum?
This is a crucial time for both sisters in their separate lives, but will Toyah consider by putting Leanne’s needs above her own she could be hindering her future?
It will be torture for Leanne to watch another child grow up in the family so soon after losing Oliver, so could Toyah be doing this out of the goodness of her heart, to spare her sister the pain?
In upcoming scenes, a member from social services reveals she will be recommending the couple to the fostering panel, and Toyah and Imran are over the moon.
Despite being questioned at length about the situation with baby Susie and her intention to pass her off as her own, it seems it’s finally in the stars for the long-running character to become a mum.
Fans will remember that Susie is actually the daughter of Aidan Connor (Shane Ward) and Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley), who agreed to secretly hand the baby over to Toyah after her surrogate lost the unborn child.
It wasn’t meant to be and once again Toyah had her heart ripped out.
Now that some good news has finally come her way, she won’t let anything get in the way of it.
