Corrie fans worried as star talks about upcoming farewell from cobbles

Coronation Street fans have been begging actress Sally Ann Matthews "don't leave us" following her "farewell to the cobbles" statement that has been shared on social media.

The actress, who has played longstanding character Jenny Bradley on and off since 1986, has confirmed she will be making an appearance on ITV daytime show Lorraine to discuss Jenny's departure from the street.

Sally tweeted: "I’ll be on @lorraine tomorrow to talk about Jenny’s farewell to the cobbles. Tune in tonight at 8pm to watch it all unfold! x #Corrie".

However, fans of the ITV soap have begged her not to leave for good, with one writing: "As a Manchester girl myself, I liken you to Ken Barlow, Roy cropper & Rita Fairclough, part of the fabric of corrie. Enjoy yr break away but you’ll be back right? It’s not just Daisy that’s going to miss ya (purple heart emoji)."

Another commented: "NO! Don't leave us….you are my favourite… I will so lose interest without you…x", while a third typed: "Noooooo! I don’t want you to leave! Jenny’s so lovable, you’ve brought such warmth to her character."

One user joked: "The only way I will accept Jenny saying goodbye to the cobbles is if Weathy Council come to tarmac over them."

It comes after Sally Ann revealed that there would be trouble ahead for Jenny, following the disappearance of beau Leo.

She originally thought he had emigrated to Canada without her, following her kiss with Stephen Reid.

Speaking to Daily Star, Sally Ann said: "Jenny is really struggling. She’s feeling very insecure, she feels rejected, she feels old and frumpy. She’s just going to get herself into more trouble.

"If I was her friend… a side of me would be saying get some answers from Leo! But then the other side would be saying that his actions speak louder than words, so what’s the point in going after him? He's made his decision.

"He’s gone to Canada, he obviously didn’t forgive you for snogging Stephen, so get over it. Even if you find him and track him down it’s not going to work!"
