Coronation Street is set to finally reveal who killed Rana Habeeb this month as the long running mystery following the factory roof sabotage and subsequent collapse takes another twist in a dramatic week of episodes.
However, while fans will finally be in on the secret, it will be a while before the residents of Weatherfield discover the new villain’s identity – meaning that Carla Connor (Alison King) may not be out of the woods yet when it comes to being blamed for the tragedy.
Viewers have seen Carla meltdown under the pressure and guilt of what happened and since then, she has been overcome by psychosis as she genuinely believes that Rana is still alive and being hidden by a vengeful Kate Connor (Faye Brookes).
Roy Cropper (David Neilson) has engineered it for her to get medical help in hospital but she trusts no-one and the only person with even a slight change of making headway is Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne), who is vulnerable himself after an uncompleted stint in alcoholism rehab.
As Peter tries to be there for a paraboid Carla, her state of mind will deteriorate to such an extent that Peter fears she could be lost forever – and a special episode is planned to fully explore the depths of Carla’s inner agony.
And in the same block of episodes which will air at the end of this month, the truth about who really committed the sabotage on Underworld will also be revealed.
A source told Inside Soap: ‘Following weeks of speculation, we are finally going to learn which local has blood on their hands. Viewers will learn the truth, although the rest of the Street still has a little way to go before they clock on.
‘It’s a story that is going to run and run, and the outcome is not going to be cut and dried.’
Names currently high on the suspect list include Gary Windass (Mikey North), Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) and Robert Preston (Tristan Gemmill).
