Davina McCall shares doubts over Masked Dancer ahead of filming debut UK series

Davina McCall has told Lorraine Kelly that she initially had doubts about new ITV series The Masked Dancer.

The kooky series is a spin-off of hit show The Masked Singer in which a panel of celebrity judges and viewers at home try to guess who is behind the costumes.

The Masked Dancer will start on ITV this weekend with Davina joining Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan and Oti Mabuse on the panel.

Appearing on Monday's edition of Lorraine, Davina,53, said: "I thought there is no way we could get who people are just from dancing but actually people do have a certain physicality to them.

"We had a couple of nights where someone was guessed from a movement and an energy but you do get to hear their voices.

"There are some American accents in there but is it real or fake.

"Also it's still hard to work out if it is a girl or a boy due to the costumes."

Explaining how producers have given more help in terms of the clues this time around, Davina continued: "There are always clues in the costumes.

Beaming, Davina laughed: "It is mad. It is so much fun and I get to sit down the whole show while everyone else does the work."

Oti will replace Rita Ora after the pop starlet suffered a schedule clash due to filming The Voice Australia at at the same time The Masked Dancer kicked off.

The move have sparked speculation that Oti is ready to call time on her role in BBC hit Strictly Come Dancing.

A source told The Sun: "Oti has been inundated with offers. Her profile has really blown up since she joined Strictly and she has had ideas pitched from a number of major channels.

"The BBC are now growing increasingly worried that her time on Strictly is numbered. She really is passionate about her dance school, and is batting off TV offers left right and centre.

"Throw the commitment of The Masked Dancer into the mix and suddenly her year might look quite different, as Strictly is a big undertaking. Producers fear she's outgrown the show."
