EastEnders viewers in tears as Sean cuts off Jean’s hair in emotional scenes

EastEnders viewers were left in tears tonight as Sean Slater cuts off Jean's hair.

Gillian Wright and Robert Kazinsky were praised for their incredible performances during the powerful episode.

Sean and his mum were away in the countryside and were just about to head off for a walk when Jean lost a clump of hair.

"They say it will happen. You just sort of think you will get away with it," said Jean as she showed Sean.

Jean asked Sean to cut her hair off, insisting "it will grow back", telling him: "We’ve got to seize the moment Sean before I change my mind. Anyway I need someone I can trust."

Smiling Jean put on a brave face as Sean got the clippers out and started to shave off his mum's hair.

Jean had a tear in her eye as she watched her hair drop to the floor.

She initially looked upset when she looked in the mirror at her bald head, but burst out laughing when Sean joked: "Your ears are massive."

Jean said: "If someone had said a couple of weeks ago I’d be here with you doing this. Thank you."

Tragedy struck later on when Jean injured her leg during a walk and started to lose strength.

Sean confessed he killed his own dad while Jean fell unconscious in the cottage.

EastEnders fans took to Twitter after watching the heartbreaking scenes.

One viewer said: "Sat in floods of tears, Gillian Wright is playing a brilliant part"

"Wow! I did not expect her to do that! What an amazing actress! I hope so much Jean does not get killed off or leave," added another.

A third said: "Powerful and strong image, Gillian Wright is an amazing actress"
