Emmerdale fans confused as they spot two new characters during Kim Tate protest

Emmerdale fans were left confused on Monday's episode as they spotted two "random" new characters during the protest scenes at the Hide Bistro.

During the latest instalment, the staff decided to go on strike after learning that owner Kim Tate was going to fire everyone and rehire on zero hour contracts.

Refusing to work and making the public aware, Amy Wyatt stood at the front as she was joined by other members of staff.

However eagle-eyed soap watchers were left confused during the scenes as they noticed two "random" new characters they had never seen on the ITV soap before.

Taking to Twitter, one person said: "Two more extras we’ve never seen before! #Emmerdale."

A different account put: "Who the f**k are the two random people???? Where have they been? #Emmerdale."

Another follower wrote: "Who’s the guy with the curly hair who’s on strike #Emmerdale."

While a different viewer joked: "Kim: these two random people cannot strike because it’s the first time I’ve seen them? #Emmerdale."

Elsewhere, the hit ITV soap is set for a shocking week of twists and turns during a special flash forward week of episodes, beginning on Monday 9 May, where several "lives will definitely be in danger".

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, the ITV soap's producer Laura Shaw shared teasers to some shock storylines and jaw-dropping stunts that viewers can enjoy in the coming months.

The producer revealed that the soap will have a special storyline week, which will see a series of flash forwards make their way into the episodes, giving "the audience the chance to try and play a bit of Emmerdale detective and see if we can work out what's going to happen during the week".

In terms of what drama we can expect coming up on the soap, Laura teased: "We see Noah's obsession with Chloe reach a bit of a crescendo and we'll see Gabby pushed to the limit at Home Farm.

"We know Jamie Tate is still alive. So is he coming back for Thomas? If so. what lengths will Gabby go to protect her son and stop him from being taken from her?

"We'll see something's going on with Faith, that she's keeping a secret but why? And we'll also see the Cain and Al rivalry resurface and I can promise you that that will take a big twist in special week and lives will definitely be in danger.

"When Cain ends that episode saying 'It's just the calm before the storm', trust me he means it."
