Emmerdale fans overjoyed after shock twist with Al Chapman’s Woolpack scheme

EMMERDALE fans are overjoyed after Al Chapman’s plan for The Woolpack suffered a setback.

The scheming businessman – who is played by actor Michael Wildman in the ITV soap – came clean with his plan to turn the pub into luxury apartments tonight.

He assembled the village to present to them and seemed to be turning the tide.

But as Al went on with his spiel about how turning the pub into apartments would benefit the village, help came from a surprising place.

Councillor Nicola King asked to address the meeting after Al insisted he wanted to break the Tate stranglehold on the village property market.

She told the villagers: “I’ve lived in this village for 20 years and there’s always been a Woolpack.

“It’s pretty much always been the same drab old hole that you go in because there’s nowhere better.

“The drinks are average, the food isn’t even that and half the staff are either just out of prison or just on their way in.

“I’ve spoken to other local business men – Eric and Jai – and we all agree – that we need affordable housing.”

As Al looked so proud of himself, Nicola added: “They also agree that the suggestion that this place isn’t the heart of the village, albeit a manky quadruple-bypassed heart riddled with angina could only come from a soulless chancer whose only concern is his own profit.

“And whatever we do need we don’t need that. So we’re saying no and I hope you will too.”
