Emmerdale fans work out who Caleb is in cahoots with after mystery phone call

Emmerdale fans have been playing detective in the wake of the latest twist, which confirmed that Caleb Milligan (William Ash) has serious ulterior motives.

Caleb has thus far claimed that his only purpose for being in the village is to get to know his family, who he’d never met due to Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) ordering him to stay away decades ago.

Cain has refused to give him the opportunity to settle in, and has shut him down at every single corner – that is, until some advice from Charity (Emma Atkins), which ultimately changed his mind, as he agreed to give Caleb a chance.

The change of heart shocked Caleb, who took great pleasure in quizzing his sibling about his past as they bonded over a pint.

But all was not as it seems, with the ITV soap later revealing that Caleb is up to no good, plotting to destroy Cain.

‘We’re finally making headway’, he said to an unknown other on the end of a phone call shortly after his heart-to-heart with his brother. ‘We keep reeling him in until we get exactly what we want.’

Caleb is out to take down his brother, likely upset over the way things turned out – especially the fact that he never got to know his mum Faith (Sally Dexter).

That much we know. The question, however, is: just who is he in cahoots with?

Fan reckon they’ve worked it out, with a number of viewers believing the mystery person on the phone call to be, wait for it, Nicky (Lewis Cope).

‘Could Caleb have been talking to Nicky the Nanny on the phone?,’ speculated one viewer. ‘Reeling them in may be concerning Home Farm and not just Cain and Chas.’

‘I think Caleb is working with Nicky,’ added another social media user. ‘He’s still angry about Cain lying about Faith being dead and he is out for revenge.’

What’s more, Monday’s (January 31) offering of the serial drama saw Caleb emerge from the Woolpack to break up a fight between Will Taylor (Dean Andrews) and Sam Dingle (James cotton) over the missing watch saga.

Nicky soon followed, meaning that both he and Caleb had been in the pub on their own previously.

A coincidence? Or a sign of their alliance?

Both characters have ties to Home Farm, given that Caleb has signed on the dotted line to go into business with Kim Tate (Claire King), while Nicky works as the nanny at the property, so it’s possible that they could be conspiring together.

Emmerdale continues Friday February 3 at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
