Endeavour has been airing on ITV and fans were thrilled to see Shaun Evans return as the title character, Endeavour Morse. Season eight has been set in 1971 and, like the previous outing, it consists of three episodes, meaning the finale is airing tonight. Express.co.uk has all you need to know about who is in the cast.

Who is in the Endeavour season 8 episode 3 cast?

DCI Fred Thursday- Roger Allam

Returning for the final episode is Detective Chief Inspector Fred Thursday – Endeavour’s mentor and friend.

He is played by Roger Allam, a 67-year-old British actor known for his roles on stage and screen.

The actor may be best known for his roles in Game of Thrones, V for Vendetta and The Thick of It.

Chief Supt Reginald Bright- Anton Lesser

Reginald Bright assumes command of Castle Gate with Fred Thursday as acting DCI, as well as DS Strange and DS Morse.

He is played by Anton Lesser, a 69-year-old English actor known for his roles as Qyburn in Game of Thrones and Harold Macmillan in The Crown.

Speaking to Oxinabox about his character, he said: “He’s starting to question everything about himself, the big questions; has he failed as a human being, husband, father…… there was a child that was lost.

“So we are getting beyond the surface, not just showing the man who has always lived by the book.”

Dr Max DeBryn- James Bradshaw

Max DeBryn is a Home Office Pathologist and he is played by James Bradshaw, a 45-year-old English actor.

He is known for his roles in The Grimleys and Hollyoaks, and he has also appeared on stage in Breakfast at Tiffany’s at the Theatre Royal in Haymarket.

DS Jim Strange- Sean Rigby

Jim Strange is a former member of the Royal Navy Submarine Service and he is known for being kind-hearted and honest.

He is played by Sean Rigby, a 32-year-old actor from Preston who has also starred in Gunpowder and the short drama Isabella.

Dorothea Frazil- Abigail Thaw

Dorothea is the editor of the Oxford Mail and she is played by Abigail Thaw, the real-life daughter of the original Inspector Morse – John Thaw.

Abigail is a 55-year-old actress who is mostly known for her theatre roles, joining the world of TV in 1990.

She had roles in The Bill and Casualty, as well as Midsomer Murders and Agatha Christie’s Poirot.

Win Thursday- Caroline O’Neill

Winifred Thursday is Fred’s wife in the series and she is the mother of Joan and Sam.

She is played by Caroline O’Neill, a British TV and theatre actress known for her role as Andrea Clayton in Coronation Street.

She has also toured with the Royal Shakespeare Company in The Crucible.

Joan Thursday- Sara Vickers

Joan Thursday is Fred’s daughter and she works at a bank in Oxford. Fans have been rooting for Joan and Endeavour to get together.

She is played by Sara Vickers, a British actress who has also appeared in Watchmen and Shetland.

Hilda Bruce-Potter- Marion Bailey

Hilda is played by Marion Bailey, a 70-year-old actress best known for working with her partner, Mike Leigh, a filmmaker.

The pair have worked on projects such as All or Nothing, Vera Drake and Mr Turner.

She also played The Queen Mother in the third and fourth seasons of The Crown.

Norbert `Nobby’ Hobbs- Ben Bishop

Norbert is played by Ben Bishop, a Hampshire-born actor known for his roles in Whitechapel and Titanic in 2012.

He has also voiced a number of video game characters in Assassin’s Creed at The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Linda Travers – Anna Burnett

Linda Travers is played by Anna Burnett, an actress who has previously starred in Darkest Hour and Ripper Street.

Fans may also recognise her as the character Glacella from The Witcher.

She also played Alicia Brown in an episode of Outlander in 2020.

Elsie Watson- Estella Daniels

Elsie Watson is played by Estella Daniels, an English actress and Dancer who starred as Nala in Sinbad.

She has also taken on roles in Ashes to Ashes, Death in Paradise and Da Vinci’s Demons.

John Peckett- Ray Emmet Brown

John Peckett is played by Ray Emmet Brown, an actor who has starred in EastEnders and Breeders.

He played Pastor Cassius Lawrence in the BBC Soap, and he has also featured in Holby City.

Les Grant- Adam Ewan

Les Grant is played by Adam Ewan, an actor known for his role as a prisoner in The Death of Stalin.

He has also previously starred in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and Doctors.

Flavian Creech- Anthony Flanagan

Flavian Creech is played by Anthony Flanagan, a 49-year-old English actor who is known for his role as policeman Tony in Shameless.

His other credits include The Crown, Silent Witness, Doctor Who and Life on Mars.

Also starring in the final episode are Martin Hutson as Lawrence Yeager, Jennifer Kirby as Dr Gillian Nicholls and Matthew Marsh as Percy Walsh.

Viewers will also see Adam Mirsky as Richard Blake and Will Sebag-Montefiore as Professor Patrick Stanton.

Endeavour airs on ITV on Sundays at 8pm.
