After Anxhela Peristeri had finished her performance of Karma, representing Albania in the Eurovision Song Contest when BBC host Graham compared her to former Countdown host and numbers expert Carol Vorderman. The presenter said he had missed the show and felt “emotional” to be back following last year’s cancellation.

Just after she finished singing and shouted “Thank you so much”, Graham said: “Is there nothing Carol Vorderman can’t do? Extraordinary.”

He quickly added: “No, her name is Anxhela Peristeri – she’s representing Albania. And what a great performance.”

Cyprus had been on stage just before, where Elena Tsaginou sang El Diablo.

Fans enjoyed both performances, but many compared the first to Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance, noting a similar tune.
