Great British Bake Off fans are fuming saying the show's first ever German week is a "fix" and "unfair" for most of the bakers as contestant Jürgen has already been Star Baker more than anyone else.

Angry Channel 4 viewers tweeted their frustration saying it was a "home advantage" for the popular German baker.

Jürgen hails from the Black Forest in German but moved to the UK in 2003.

One tweeted: "Well, if Jürgen doesn't win German week… It's a fix."

"Jürgen has a massive home team advantage on this one if it's German week," fumed one.

"We've never had a German week before, have we? Feels like an unfair advantage to Jürgen" added another.

They were furious when the German baker received a much longed for Paul Hollywood handshake.

"A handshake for Jürgen on German week? Who could predicted that?" said one.

Another tweeted a "pretends to be shocked" GIF.

However one viewer defended the popular contestant.

"I really don't like how they're "loading" Jürgen's performance because he's German by origin and elevating the expectations."

They added: "99" (at least) of British people couldn't make a cherry bakewell if their lives depended on it. We don't bang on about that."

Viewers were surprised when Jürgen finished fourth in the technical challenge making a complicated royal cake.

Jurgen also told Paul Hollywood that the bake they had chosen for the show stopper wasn't authentic.

Paul apologised for anglicising it as Jurgen pointed out it was like asking for a tiered apple crumble or trifle as the yeasted cakes don't usually come in layers.
