Podcaster and mum of three Giovanna Fletcher has revealed she "adores" former star of The Only Way Is Essex Pete Wicks.
The unlikely pairing became pals after taking part in charity CoppaFeel! treks to raise awareness about breast cancer – most recently walking a gruelling 100km to Mont Blanc in the Chamonix Valley.
38-year-old Giovanna, whose brother is Mario Falcone, another TOWIE alumni, says she was left in awe of Celebs Go Dating's Pete, 35, when they first trekked through the Sahara together a few years ago.
“I absolutely adore the man,” she told OK! in an exclusive chat.
She continued: "He came on the Sahara trek and I don’t think he understands how much his team adored him. Seeing him work with a team and the different ways he encourages people was phenomenal."
As patron of the Coppafeel! charity, Giovanni has used her profile and list of celebrity contacts to enlist well-known team captains to help the groups along, including the likes of Frankie Bridge and Bake Off winner Candice Brown.
Her and Pete's most recent trip to Mont Blanc in September also included Kelsey Parker, the widow of The Wanted's Tom Parker, who died in March 2022 after being diagnosed with an incurable brain tumour two years earlier.
The celebrities, along with more than 100 women, spent five days in the shadows of Europe's tallest mountain, walking for over eight hours every day.
For Pete, it's a cause worth the pain and stresses of the trek.
"Cancer will likely affect all of us at some point in our lives, so I can’t think of a more important cause to support," he said before heading out to Africa.
I'm A Celebrity winner Giovanna, who is married to McFly vocalist Tom Fletcher, told OK! she finds the walks "challenging", but they give her a high like no other.
"It’s challenging emotionally and mentally as well as physically, but seeing people overcome different obstacles is incredible. It’s the most rewarding, life-affirming thing ever," she said.
She continued: "And the chats we have are massive. There’s something about walking that just opens your heart and words come tumbling out."
As patron of the charity, the Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast host has been at the helm of many of its treks, leading men and women everywhere from the Pembrokeshire Coast to the Himalayas.
After building a friendship with Kate Middleton after the Princess of Wales appeared on her podcast in 2020, might Giovanna – who has just released Happy Mum Happy Baby: The Sleep Album to help families tackle bedtimes – be bringing a royal on her next trek?
"I’d love to have her on a trek," Giovanna told OK!. "We could share our snacks and have a little walk and talk, but I think the logistics would probably be a bit tricky!"
