Good Morning Britain's Laura Tobin was absent on Thursday morning (December 1) and viewers swooned over a new stand-in weather presenter.

With Laura Tobin not in the studio – and this time not for a trip around the country to report on the weather – fans of GMB were quick to spot a new face in Laura's place.

Ruth Dodsworth took on Laura's weather presenting duties on Thursday.

The British broadcaster, journalist and weather presenter is best known for her work at ITV Cymru Wales – and viewers were overjoyed to see her on their screens.

Taking to Twitter to note the shakeup on the ITV1 morning magazine show, many fans pointed out how Ruth replaced Laura.

"How lovely to see Ruth on GMB I turned tv on to see Ruth doing UK weather without the dulcet tones of Andrew Jones but then we get the lovely Ben, Kate and Sean," penned one.

Another gushed: "Ruth is glowing. What’s your secret love."

"Ruth a welcomed surprise seeing you on GMB this morning," added a third.

While a fourth urged: "More Ruth For GMB please."

GMB then posted a clip of Ruth presenting this week's weather, which left fans swooning all over again.

"Stunning human," penned one, while another added: "Thank god you've got the lovely Ruth on. Perfectly clear, no mumbling or stumbling – perfect diction."

And a third said: "What a fantastic meteorologist."

The 47-year-old TV star began her career in radio, working as a researcher for BBC Radio Wales in the 90s.

In 1996 she then joined ITV Cymru Wales where she trained as a news reporter and presenter, before switching roles and becoming a weather presenter in 2000.
