Former Prime Minister Gordon Brown has been pressed over the fitness of Joe Biden after the US president made a string of recent public blunders. Mr Biden appeared to forget the name of the Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison during last week’s Aukus press conference, referring to him as that “fella down under.” When asked on Good Morning Britain about Mr Biden’s cognitive ability, the former Labour leader argued: “What you see is what you get.”

Mr Brown told GMB: “I know Joe Biden, I worked with Joe Biden. I have met him on many occasions.

“I went to Latin American with him to sort out the financial crisis.

“Look George Bush was criticised for forgetting names and getting people’s names wrong. Donald Trump was criticised for that as well.

“I think the important thing for Joe Biden is he does want to get things done.”

He added: “Joe Biden is a good man, what you see is what you get.”
