I'm A Celeb's Sam Thompson says Strictly girlfriend Zara McDermott is 'thrilled' he's gone as he lands in Australia | The Sun

SAM Thompson admitted girlfriend Zara Thompson is "thrilled" he's gone as he landed in Australia for I'm a Celebrity.

The 31-year-old was snapped arriving in Brisbane today ahead of the I'm a Celebrity launch on Sunday.

Made in Chelsea star Sam beamed after touching down and confirming his place in camp alongside stars including Nigel Farage.

When asked about saying goodbye to Strictly Come Dancing and Love Island star Zara, 26, he told The Sun: "She's probably happy!

"I think the last thing she said to me is 'I can't wait to starfish in the bed' – no I tell you what she said, she said 'I get to put the heating on as high as I want without you having a go at me'."

Sam confessed to having a fear of spiders and snakes, saying: "I'd be lying if I said I liked them! The smaller they are the worse they are! I had to jump out of a plane once and I cried so that's a good start."

He also revealed plans to "make his own fun" in camp, adding: "I want people to like me. I cant risk people around the campfire not liking me, so I might have to wait until they get to know me a bit better. Apparently it gets boring in there so I like to make my own fun."

Sam first joined Made in Chelsea in 2013 and he now presents his own Staying Relevant podcast Towie’s Pete Wicks.

The star also fronted the official Love Island podcast, appeared on the spin-off show Aftersun and he won praise for his own Channel 4 documentary on his journey with ADHD.

Meanwhile Zara was just booted off of Strictly Come Dancing.

But sources insist the reality TV favourite’s personality will be a hit in the jungle and it could turn the pair into quite the formidable duo.

Our source said: "Sam is a great signing because he has a huge fan base and a funny, self-deprecating personality.

"While it might put a bit of pressure on his relationship with Zara McDermott, it tops off a huge year for them after her Strictly spell."

Sam will join the full I'm A Celebrity 2023 line-up in camp this weekend, with politicians, influencers and daytime stars being thrown into the nation's most famous camp.
