On Saturday, James Martin was back to host his ITV cooking show, Saturday Morning. He invited a number of celebrity guests on to the show including the likes of Steps singer Faye Tozer and celebrity chefs Ryan and Liam Simpson-Trotman. The presenter also answered some of his viewer’s cooking questions. However, as he was demonstrating how to make the perfect scrambled eggs for one caller, James took a moment to pay a tribute to his former colleague, Michel Roux Sr, who taught him how to make the dish.

Legendary French chef Michel Sr died after battling a long-term lung condition.

He had appeared on James’ cooking show in the past, and he even made an appearance one month before he died.

Over the years Michel Sr also regularly made appearances on Saturday Kitchen Live with James and Matt Tebbutt.

As James began to demonstrate how to make the dish, he paid a tribute to his pal.

“The first thing you want to do is crack the eggs into your bowl,” James explained.

“What I have learned about the best scrambled eggs, and I actually learned this from the late Michel Roux Sr.

“Who we sadly lost two years ago.

“And what he taught me to do these scrambled eggs and like you were in Africa with your ostrich egg.”

He continued: “I was in Dubai, and we were doing a thing about chefs around the world.

“And we were representing the UK. And there was me and Michel there representing the UK.

“And he actually cooked this for me.

“And I am going to replicate this. Hopefully, he’ll be looking down and I’m doing it right.”

Elsewhere in the programme, James demonstrated how to make a tuna dish with Wasabi sauce and Oriental salad.

He also cooked Faye a seabass dish with garlic, shallot and lemon sauce.

Viewers were loving Saturday’s show, and many took to social media to air their thoughts.

One penned: “@jamesmartinchef #saturdayjamesmartin #saturdayjamesmartin can you pop over and make me that scrambled egg on toast please… bring coffee… thanking you! #mouthwatering.” (sic)

 

 

 

Another said: “Wow that is a very speedy fish dish. Looks fabulous. Thanks for the inspiration.”

A third praised: “James Martin is a superb chef and presenter. @jamesmartinchef nothing better than spending the morning on the settee with James.” (sic)

James made that look effortless! Yummy,” a fourth said.

A fifth tweeted: “Woohoo what a fabulous lineup of guests and chefs along with some amazing dishes. Cannot wait to head back into the kitchen with James xx.” (sic)

James Martin’s Saturday Morning returns on Saturday at 9.30am.
