Kerry Katona opens up on surrogacy journey as she plans to have baby with fiancé

Kerry Katona has revealed she is getting her eggs harvested as she starts her surrogacy journey with fiancé Ryan Mahoney.

The former Atomic Kitten singer, 41, revealed the news in an exclusive film made for Steph’s Packed Lunch, where the pair discussed intimate details of the next steps in their surrogacy journey.

Kerry has been open about her plans to have a child with Ryan, 32, but does not want to carry the baby herself after nearly dying from complications while giving birth to daughter, Dylan-Jorge.

The star revealed: “In fact, we have got an appointment tomorrow about getting my eggs harvested. That is the next step, and that is as far as we are going.”

Earlier in the interview, Kerry said: “Ryan hasn’t biologically grown any of his children, he’s eight years younger than me. I don’t want to rob Ryan of not having his own child, if that is a route we want to go down, but I don’t want to carry another child.”

The mum-of-five already shares Dylan-Jorge, 7, with the late George Kay who died at the age of 39 in 2019 after a drug overdose.

She also shares Molly, 20, and Lilly-Sue, 18, from her relationship with former Westlife singer Brian McFadden and Heidi, 14, and Maxwell, 13, from her relationship with Mark Croft.

Ryan also added: “It’s something that down the line it might be more of a thought than a thing for me to be like ‘I want more than I do at the minute’. At the minute we’re so busy that it isn’t top of the list, but if it is going to happen, we need to get the ball rolling and start the process.”

The couple were informed during the chat by Dr Helen Prosser that they were looking at spending an initial £25,000 on a surrogate to cover expenses including vitamins, clothing and childcare.

Kerry revealed she was starting her surrogacy journey in June this year, saying at the time she was “not getting any younger”.

She revealed the company she was speaking to was created by Tony and Barrie Drewitt-Barlow, the UK's first gay couple to welcome a child via surrogacy.

Egg harvesting is a non-invasive method used to retrieve eggs from a female to be used in IVF.

Kerry and Ryan announced their engagement last year and are currently planning their wedding.
